(9/3) A wolf before breakfast.
We began this day by driving to Lamar Valley and finding a group of avid wolf-watchers to share space with. They helped us find a black male wolf of the Druid Peak pack, which Tom photographed at a great distance through the spotting scope. At a later stop, we were able to see an adult wolf with cub at a distance in the valley.

Then we stopped at the Mud Volcano Area near the river where, among other things, we saw the Dragon's Mouth, a hot spring with a steam vent above it.
Finally, we reached Yellowstone Lake.
We hiked through woodlands and meadows frequented by bison to reach the lake, and saw trees that had been rubbed by bison in the springtime as they shed their heavy winter coats.
